Hong Kong 10s
Every year Cardiff University Rugby Club attends the prestigious Hong Kong 10’s tournament held at Hong Kong Football Club. The students are perpetual crowd favourites as they are historically the youngest team in the tournament and play an exciting brand of attacking rugby. Many of the opposition teams are made up of up and coming New Zealand, South African and Australian super 14 players.
Some famous names that the students have played against include Jonah Lomu, Brian Lima, Brendan Laney, Tyrone Power etc. In the 6 years that Cardiff University have attended the Tournament they have reached finals on three occasions.

The duration of the tour is 10 days; made up of 2 days of training, 2 days of competition and culminating in 3 days attendance at the IRB Hong Kong 7’s. There is also plenty of free time to enjoy the many diverse sights and cultures Hong Kong has to offer. There is a large contingent of Cardiff University Alumni living and working in Hong Kong. Historically the Rugby Club meet and network with the Alumni at the St David’s Dinner held poolside at Hong Kong Football club. Also in attendance at the dinner are the Welsh 7’s squad and management.
The Head of Rugby has final say on selection for the Hong Kong Tournament based strictly on performance and representation throughout the BUSA season.
